Amigurumi with Stacie

Stacie is a librarian with 25 years of experience in education. She loves all things Sci-Fi and crafty!

​

She will have a display of several Amigurumi characters, crochet hooks, yarn, print-outs of crochet basics/patterns, as well as how-to videos. Attendees will be invited to learn the basics of Amigurumi and hopefully be inspired to create them on their own after the event.

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION

WITH

JUDD WINICK

Judd Winick is an American comic bookcomic strip and television writer/artistcartoonist, and former reality television personality. Winick first gained fame for his 1994 stint on MTV's The Real World: San Francisco, before finding success with his work on comic books such as Green LanternGreen Arrow, and Pedro and Me, his autobiographical graphic novel about his friendship with Real World castmate and AIDS educator Pedro Zamora. He also created the animated TV series The Life and Times of Juniper Lee for Cartoon Network, which ran for three seasons. For DC Comics, he wrote the Batman storyline Under the Hood, which resurrected Jason Todd (the second Robin) following his murder by the Joker in the storyline Batman: A Death in the Family, in which he became the anti-heroic Red Hood following the "Infinite Crisis" storyline. He would also write a prequel miniseries Red Hood: The Lost Days, detailing the exact nature of Jason's resurrection. He would also write the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood, which adapted his original story.

Exploring Japanese Language

and Culture with

Jerry Romero

Romero Sensei has been a Japanese teacher for 7 years. He has taught mostly in San Antonio and a few years in Japan. He has studied and lived in both Tokyo and Nagoya. He loves to teach about and explore Traditional Japanese Culture such as fashion, calligraphy, origami, Kabuki theatre, etc. 

​

During this presentation, we will be exploring various forms of Japanese culture and language. You will have the opportunity to learn common Japanese greetings and self-introduction phrases. We will also explore Japanese calligraphy (Shodou) and Traditional Japanese fashion. Come and explore a mini- introduction to Japan!

Creepy Pastas are the modern day Urban Legends. MrCreepyPasta has taken these stories and turned them into online Radio Dramas! Over 1 million subscribers and counting, MrCreepyPasta has put his tentacles into nightmares across the globe.

 

Gather round the campfire boils and ghouls and MrCreepyPasta will tell you stories that will give you nightmares for years to come. Taken from stories around the internet and some of your favorites from YouTube, listen as the one and only blue man retells them in the iconic voice you've come to know and love.

Brian Rich started out in the games industry at LucasArts Entertainment where he worked on the games Full Throttle and Afterlife. From there he transitioned into the animation industry and worked on the Rugrats movies and contributed to some of the other early Nickelodeon cartoons at the Kllasky-Csupo animation studio.

​

Join him for some drawings tips and advice and lessons he learned while working in the game and animation industry.
